RAVPower Duo 7800mAh Portable Charger Gear Review
Posted by Claire Walters on May 18, 2014 in Gear Reviews, Lighting | 0 commentsHey Everyone! Today I’m going to talk about the RAVPower Duo 7800mAh Portable Charger with Camping Lantern.
A little over a month ago a rep from ravpower.com asked if I would try their product & write a review.
When I received the product I noticed the nice packaging right away. The charger & cord were wrapped in plastic inside the box. Small instruction booklet & carabiner included.
I immediately pulled it open to check out the lantern feature. It’s a bright LED light sufficient enough for lighting up a tent, small area around your camp for a while, emergency light around the house or for navigating while walking or hiking at night.
On one side is a mini USB port to use when charging the device. The other side is another USB port to use when charging a phone or tablet.
First I decided to plug the device in to make sure it had a full charge. While it was charging the four little lights on the side would blink. It took a couple of hours till all four lights were lit solid. I charged it once through the USB port on my laptop & another time through the wall plug I use for my phone.
Once it had a full charge – I then started using it to charge my Samsung galaxy S3 phone. It charged the phone at the same speed as it would charge if plugged into my laptop or wall plug. Over the course of a couple of days I charged the phone & few times — the charger still had power. Each time I plugged the phone into the charger – the phone was at least 50% charged or a little less.
After letting it sit for about a couple of weeks – it still appears to be holding its charge. Knowing this is good. In case of an emergency where I might need to use in the event of loosing power – I can assume it will hold its power & be ready to use.
The RavPower Duo 7800 does what it says. Its a small little power pack that will keep your mobile devices charged during emergencies or when away from home camping, hiking, traveling.
I found it easy to attach to a day pack. Its small enough for me where it wasn’t in the way or too much additional weight.
As an ecig user the RavPower device also has the capacity to charge the ecig battery as it uses a USB connection. An added bonus!
RavPower offers an assortment of external batteries which you can find here.
