About: Mountaingoat Hats and Goods is a small cottage industry, comprised of one woman and occasionally her daughter. All products are made in this little home in the Santa Cruz mountains.

I use quality materials, and I try to purchase from other cottage industries whenever I can.

I learned to knit at the age of three, to my mother and grandmother, back in Switzerland, where I was born. They also taught me to crochet and sew.

I am a backpacker and my products are made with this passion in mind. Some of my hats and other products are very lightweight, for those of us that like to go far and fast.

Any questions about my products or services please feel free to contact me.

Thank you!

  1. I have one of Kats beanies, and it is the softest, warmest, most beautiful & functional beanie I’ve ever put on my head. I bought one especially for my PCT thru-hike this year. ~ Dug :)

    Hi Kats,

You knit some very impressive things and I can see you have a real passion for the things you make. I look forward to seeing what the new camera has captured on your backpacking trips.

    Take Care,

    Tazman

  3. We have 4 or 5 of these hats and the only problem we have with them is which one to choose at any given time! They are SOO nice and the fit perfectly. I look forward to doing some cold weather camping this mine this year! We will be picking up a few more of them in a month or so…

    Thanks again MountainGoat!

I have one of Kat’s beanies and the only problem I have is trying to keep it for myself, if you leave it laying around for more than a minute, it will find a new home, with someone else, there that nice! This is my favorite beenie, as it keeps my head warm, but also lets it breath, I don’t sweat in it like my other beanies. Great job Kat, and nice web site. I need to order another one, soon! winters coming.

    All the best, Jack
